It’s no secret that the summer months in San Antonio are brutal. Between the heat and humidity, popular activities include visiting community pools, public lakes and the beachfront. Luckily, we get a break during the pleasant fall and winter months.

While the rest of the nation tends to be covered in feet of snow, San Antonio’s average low temperature in November-January is just around 40 degrees while a highs stick to the 60’s. So while your holiday decorations may seem out of place in this gorgeous sunshine, it is still important to prepare your home for fall. Save yourself from expensive and inconvenient repairs this potentially chillier winter by being proactive with the following fall home maintenance checklist:

  • Check your home’s exterior for peeling paint
  • Remove debris from gutters
  • Seal cracks and crevices around windows and doors
  • Remove hoses from spigots and store away
  • Give your furnace some TLC
  • Have your fireplace cleaned and inspected
  • Seal your driveway
  • Adjust your ceiling fans
  • Prep and store lawn equipment
  • Pack up outside patio items (cushions, grill, etc.)
  • Inspect your roof for loose or missing shingles
  • Replace air filters
  • Test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide monitors
